A-N-N-A

Another from Anna!

"Dear Friends,
It has been a few weeks since I have last wrote and my what a wonderful time we are having here at school! The time is literally flying though and I can't believe that it is October already! Thats crazy, It seems like we just got here, but we are actually almost through with the first half of the semester.
God has been teaching me a lot about his patience recently. I have had an incident over the summer that I honestly had thought was over and done with. But this past week I was struck with some serious personal strife and I wasn't sure what God was trying to teach me. My cousin Dan's girlfriend was able to talk to me about it and she was able to help me see that my trauma, if you will, was a direct result of bitterness that I had built up toward an individual over the summer. I thought that things were fine, but upon the question "are you praying for that individual?" the response was NO! That was a big break through for me. I think that often we try to go on with life and when a situation occurs you are quick to ignore the issue and try to blot it out, when in reality you should be on your knees before our HOLY and AWESOME God!
I have continued to struggle with my Bible Doctrines class, but I know that the Lord is teaching me through it. I had a test in my Home appliance class and got a B which was exciting! My textiles class is going strong too! My teacher for that class use to scare me to death the first semester I had her, now I feel as if I have her wrapped around my little finger;) Things have clicked and we are moving on now. Lauren and I are in Physical Science together, and if it wasn't for her I don't know what I would be doing with that class. We have been able to stick together close through it and we are going to make it out alive I hope! Last week for lab, we were determining the quality of our shampoos. It was quite interesting and the results were, if you were interested, you get what you pay for. The cheap stuff was not all that the comercial says that it is. That was for free;)
Weekends are spend at the soccer games usually. Last week Amanda(my cousins g-friend) and I were at a game with Josh and Brandon (Laurens cousin) and my oh my did we have some good laughs. I thought I was goign to stop breathing I was laughing so hard!
Today is my little brothers birthday and I have to miss it! It is kinda hard and I must admit I am a little homesick this weekend. But I will be over it soon... I can't believe it though, he is 17! Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh where has time gone???? My family celebrated it by going to Boothbay harbor and looked at the boats getting packed up for the winter. Then they went to a restaurant called "Townsends" isn't that neat????
Ok well I have about written a book here so I must depart. I have a few things that I would like to mention though for prayer,
1) my personal growth in the Lord
2) our housing situation in Maine
3) a paper that I have to write for Tuesday
4) Unspoken

Thank you soooooo much for all your prayers and support! I love you all soooooo much and miss you Ohio peoples very much! I hope that everything is going well for ya'll;) Have a wicked good week! Love to all!

A post from Anna Townsend!

"Dear Friends and Family,
greetings from the place in the country with the most beautiful weather this time of year!!!!! I can't believe how beautiful it is and Gods goodness to us in blessing us with such a nice location for school!
It has been a few weeks since I have last up-dated you, and hopefully, I won't forget anything important.
Last weekend was Lauren's birthday, and I took GREAT pleasure in making the most of it! I went all out with party hats and kazoos and the whole bit! She was thoroughly embarrassed, and I enjoyed every moment of it;) Then, later that evening I brought a couple of gallons of ice-cream over to the games, and we all helped in celebrating that event;)
Classes are going ok . . . I had a Bible Doctrines test last week that was a killer! Its is so frustrating because I really enjoy the class. It is suppose to be one that I can take and grasp the most from, but in all honesty, its hard. I want to be able to know this stuff so that I can be most effective for our Lord, but the book learning part is very difficult for me to understand.
Physical Science I am managing to stay afloat in still... That is hopefully going to be the class that I excel in as the semester goes by, where at first I thought that it would be the hardest . . .
Weekends around here are so much fun, but they are soooo exhausting. Friday night is spent at the games, usually. We have a group that is practically inseparable, and boy, do we have some good times. Josh took great pleasure in one of the kazoos from Lauren's party and has taken it apart so that just the mouth part is in tact. He had it at the soccer game Saturday night and was cracking us all up. Every time we would all be cheering cause a goal or something, he would be squeaking through that little blowy thing. It was sooooo funny! My friend Amanda and I were laughing soooooo hard!
Sunday's are such wonderful days, but they are also long days! Back home, our family usually takes Mondays off to recover from the business of a Sunday, but here at school, there is not really a day off for me. Between working 15 hours a week and taking 18 credits, I am pretty busy. So usually by Tuesday I am exhausted. But God is good and I get to sleep in on Tuesdays and make up for the loss over the weekend.
My family in Maine is continuing to do well. Ryan is in full throttle with drivers ED now, and he is enjoying it. He actually started driving Monday with his instructor. He is also looking forward to his 17th birthday which is on Friday this week! I am sad that I have to miss it, but that is the way it is I guess;) Mom is recovering from a nasty cold that I think I gave to her through the phone a few weeks ago;) She is still working at the museum and loving it to death! Dad, wow there is so much I could say about him, but that would take a whole long e-mail in and of itself... The Lord spared him from what could have been a serious injury with a chain saw a few days ago. We are still working on the property, and the Lord has been gracious to us so far!
Prayer Request for this week!
That I would have a continued passion for what God is teaching me
That I would have a genuine LOVE for people even though it is hard to love them.
My Bible Doctrines class
Financial situation for next semester
My health, I have been having stomach problems again this semester
An unspoken regarding my future plans
Thank you all sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much for all your prayer and support! It means sooooo much to all of us here! I can't wait to see more of you here soon! IT is and AWESOME place to be!
Love to All, Anna Banana
James 1:5-8
If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given to him. But let him ask in faith nothing wavering, For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea, driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive anything of the Lord. A double minded man is unstable in ALL his ways!"

Da jia, Ni hao.

Here's a post from Josh.

"Da jia, Ni hao.

Well, what a full two weeks I had!

I began my last update, commanding you to come down to visit us. It
has been two weeks since that post and I know for a fat that you
haven't. For that, I am disappointed. I expect to see you soon.

We are in choir now. I really enjoy it.

I sold my iPod for $140 last week and I bought the iPod touch three
days ago. It will be here in a week and a half. Rumor has it that the
IT guys are about to switch to wireless in the dorms (Everyone knows
that it is just a matter of time because they installed all the
necessary hardware last year.). With the installation of the wireless
comes the ability to use my iPod in my room. Obviously, I won't be
able to listen to any music because I won't have headphones, but I
will be able to surf the web.

My computer came early last week, and I am typing this post with it.
I love it so much. It has this really cool feature that lets you
teleconference with other Mac owners. Unfortunately, it doesn't work
outside the BJ network because there are like a trillion firewalls.
If I ever go off campus with it, I will try to teleconference with
Liz. I am really excited about that.

I had my first Japanese class last week. The professor was a
missionary's son, so he speaks Japanese, Spanish and English. If any
of you know anything about Japanese, you know that it is very close
to Chinese. I knew this, too, and I thought that I was going to have
difficulty with keeping the languages separate, but it is really not
that hard. Japanese uses the chinese characters in one of their
alphabets (yes, they have more than one, four actually), so as I
learn Chinese, I am learning Japanese. There is a guy in my Chinese
classes who is taking Japanese with me, and we think it's really easy
because we are used to characters that have over 10 different
strokes, but most Japanese ones only have 2.

I recently got an email from one of my teachers informing that there
is a job opportunity at the Bob Jones University Press in the
editorial department as a proofreader. I took the qualifying test and
am waiting for a callback. I really want this job because it would
look good on a resume, it would be really fun (to me), and I would
gain a very helpful skill for my college years.

Prayer Requests:
I would find a good extension that I could really use my talents for
God.
I would get that job as a proofreader.
I would continually be in God's Word and prayer.

I love and miss you all, but now I am going to take a nap."

Anna Townsend is up to the plate!

If you don't know, Anna Townsend is a young lady that used to come to LBC. Her father is Pastor Townsend. God called him to a church in Maine, so he and his family moved to Maine.

"Dearest friend back in Ohio,
Well it is September and the begining semester of my junior year in college. Amazingly yes I am a junior. Dont ask me how I got here, but I am here by the grace of our GREAT GOD!
I am currently located in the FCS wing of the Science building typing this up and delicately allowing a nice big piece of dark chocolate(72% cocao to be exact) to melt all over my mouth. Its really an amazing thing and I just wish I had a huge cup of coffee to compliment it.
The weather here has been amazing in my book. Many think it much to hot for a human being to possible live in, but I find it wonderful. After spending a summer afternoon praying for even 80 degrees to hit, the 90's feel luxorious to me;) The only thing lacking is the beach.
Classes started off with a good chug. I am taking Home appliances, Physical Science, Bible Doctrines, Intorduction to Biblical Counseling, and Textiles. Bible Doctrines is going to be the most challening class theoretically, but Physical Science is right up there too. Lauren and I are in Physical Science together and we are struggling with the home-work all-ready.
My cousin Dan and I have been able to make up for lost time already and we have been having a GREAT time! Then for lunches I am usually with LAuren and the Public safety group. We as a group have become somewhat of a family this semester and it is no wonderful to have such a great group of kids that you can be so happy and content with. When you go through the day, or a little trial or even a big one, having a group that you can share with is so comforting. Our God supplies our needs and friendships!
Prayer Requests for the week
1.) I have a test in counseling on Friday 9-14
2.) My roomates and continual bonding to take place.
3.) My own spiritual walk. I am in a leadership position this year and I need constant prayer that I can remain above reproach so that others may not stumble.
4.) The church in Maine, that Dad would effectively lead the flock and that souls would be saved!

Have a wonderful and Blessed day! I would Love to hear from any of ya'll!
Much Love to All, Anna"

Now, be sure to tune in next week's edition of, umm... this blog!

This next post is from Ashley. Hooray!

Hello everyone!

I hope all is well back at home sweet home in Van Wert, OH. College for me so far has been... what's the word??? CRAZY!!!???!!! yes college has been very crazy and stressful lately. It is just so different from my high school. I just have to get used to it i guess.
So this past Sunday (the 9th) i went to the church i am going to down here with Anna, Josh, and Lauren. But this Sunday was different. I sang in the chior and that was only the 2nd time i had been there! It was crazy. And this chior is a tad bit bigger than ours at home so yeah it was really crazy and different.
I'm sure by now all of you have heared about my wonderful job. Yes, I work custodial so yes, i do clean toilets!!! It really is a wonderful job though because most people have to work throughout the day and still get their school work done. But i only have to work at night from 10:45-midnight. The only bad thing about it is that i am always so tired everyday because i have 8:00 classes everyday and i go to bed at like 12:15. so i only get about 6 or so hours of sleep. I haven't fallen asleep yet in class. But i wouldn't be surprised if i did soon.
Oh i also forgot to tell you that on top of my job, school work, and singing in the choir at Morning Side, i also got into the Universtiy Singers which is just a choir full of freshman. But we did have to audition so it isn't like they just let anyone in ya know?? yeah so i am excited about that as well as all the new stuff i will be experiencing while here at BJU! This place really is a wonderful place. I think everyone should have to come visit us!! Not just to see us but also to see how nice the campus is and how the classes are. I went to a public school all my life so praying before every class is a big change but a good one as well.
Well thank you all for your support. I hope to hear from you all soon. If you don't know my email address already it is akitt481@students.bju.edu. And if you want to send me a good ol' letter the address for me is:

Hope to hear from all of you soon. I miss you all and can't wait to come home for Thanksgiving. Have fun at the anniversary Sunday. I wish with all of my hear that i could be there!!! Thank you for your prayers! Ash"

So there you have it! Ashley and Josh posted and there will be others. Until next time, hasta la vista.

MORE OF JOSH!!1

Josh writes,

"Hey Everyone,

Well this certainly has been an eventful week...

Before I begin my little story, I want to say that if you haven't yet been down here, then you are must come as soon as possible, in fact, I command you to come down. There, now you have no choice. Ha!
It started out Sunday night at Morningside Baptist Church, which, if you are unaware, is the church we attend while in Greenville. This church is one of the most musically gifted churches I have ever seen. And, yes, I have been to quite a few different churches in the Greenville area, so that is saying much. The Music Pastor announced that they were in need of some choir and orchestra members and that if we wanted to join, we should talk to him after church. I decided that I wanted to join, but I didn't mention it to anyone. Do you ever get a feeling that you are forgetting to do something that you really want to do, but you have no idea what it is? That is the feeling that I got after the service on Sunday night. As "luck" would have it (I have luck in quotation marks, because we all know that it was God, not luck), there was not enough room for our group on the bus so we were going to have to wait until it dropped off one group and come back to pick us up. So Anna and I had to wait at the church... This is when I remembered the thing that I forgot to do and when I told Anna about it. She looked at me and said that she wanted to join as well, but forgot, too. So we both went and found the Pastor and told him (finding him was somewhat of an experience, too) that we wanted to join. Hooray!!! Anna, Ashley, and I are now in the Morningside Baptist Choir!

In my last update I informed you of the fact that I was waiting to buy my new computer so that I could get a new ipod or, as they are now called, ipod touch. I was giddy with anticipation on Wednesday while awaiting the announcement. Finally it came and with it another one: the promotion in which you got a new ipod worked not with the new ipods, only the old ones. Not old in the sense of used or whatever, but old in the sense of not the sweet cool touchy ones. I was distraught, but my wonderfully ingenious friend said that I should by the older version for the rebate price and sell it brand-new, never-opened ipod for only $180. I liked the idea, but I am now considering selling it for only $150. I bought it for $80 so I am still making a profit. I wondered if this was ethical, but I think that it is. That is was whole-sale stores do, right? If any of you would like to buy it, email me at jheim271@bju.edu It should be here sometime next week. I will let you know when.

I am ashamed to say it, but I have never read The Chronicles of Narnia. There, I am sorry, don't chide me too much. I started it yesterday and I am loving every moment of it. I plan to have it done before my computer gets here, or I will be busy playing with it instead of reading.

All-in-all, I had a pretty eventful week and tomorrow is Saturday!!!! Sleeping in, I love sleeping in...

As almost the entire church knows, I am currently taking Chinese courses here at BJU. Well, I am about to start taking another language, one that Freddy will be jealous of, one that will help me understand Asian culture, one that will give a new experience to watching Naruto (if you don't know what that is, ask any of the Heimann's...you could even ask Rickie, Sadie, or Jayden!!). Yes, on Tuesday this week, I will have my first Japanese course!!!!!!! I am so excited!!!! What is more is that it is a go-at-your-own-pace, no-grade, no-credit, one-night-a-week class. In my next update, I shall tell you all about it!"

Umm, yeah

I'm still playing catch up in all this.

I am REALLY sorry for not getting these on sooner.

...bye now.

TEH BLOG!!1

Introducing the new blog about the Liberty Baptist Collegiate Blog!!! I started it a bit late, but here is a lil' something from Josh!

"Hey everyone. We all made it down here safely and we started classes yesterday. I have three roommates and they are great. Two of them are brothers and they are all from VA. They are the complete opposite me: I am about as sports-minded as a turnip, and they are like crazy good at all things sporty. They even work out and stuff and are trying to get me to start, but I will never give in to temptation.

I am FINALLY buying my computer. Well, not exactly; I am waiting to get it until after the Apple press conference because rumor has it that there is going to be a new ipod very shortly. If you don't know, the press conference is the 5th of September. You can read the article here if you are interested: http://www.macrumors.com/2007/08/28/the-beat-goes-on-nano-touch-beatles-wireless/
